325i BMW Convertible
The BMW 3 Series is a vehicle that is popular worldwide and BMW is a giant in the automotive industry. A brief history of the Series 3 is highlighted below.
1600-2002 - 1966 to 1976
BMW bankruptcy almost opposite the 1500 and the decision was taken to launch a smaller sedan family and delivered the 1600-2002 series which itself became a legend car proving to be a great success for the German manufacturer. The BMW 1600 could reach 60 mph in 13 seconds and the BMW 2002 Turbo Turbo was the first European in charge of power plants.
Thousands of 1600-2002 series out of production lines until his death in 1976 - what followed was not surprising that the automotive world but BMW also!
BMW Series 3 - from 1976 to 1982
What followed was the BMW 3 Series, a car that rewrote the rules of the compact sedan. Early models provided with engines 1.6 and 1.8 liters, but with a weight of just over 1000kgs animated player was guaranteed.
The model has been launched BMW 320i with a four-cylinder engine giving 125bhp with independent suspension.
At the Frankfurt auto show 1977 BMW 323i was launched with the first six-cylinder engines. The six-cylinder 143bhp and products with the help of cutting edge electronics helped the equivalent of about 21mpg. The success of BMW cars and astonished by the end of 1982 more than one million BMW 3 series had left the factory.
BMW 3 Series - to 1983 to 1990
The second generation BMW 3 Series let other cars in its segment far behind. It was lighter, increased interior space and a wider range of engines more powerful than the first generation.
The straight-six cylinder 2.5 liter unit developed 171bhp - just 50bhp less than a 2008 BMW 325i two-door coupe and was capable of 135 mph.
More information was come to the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1985 when BMW has revealed the first M-Powered 3-Series - the BMW M3.
The M3 has established a reputation as a BMW that the first car manufacturer for the drivers! This car has won every single Touring Car Championship in the world in the late 1980s.
The second generation reached just over two million units produced during its production cycle.
BMW 3 Series - from 1990 to 1998
The third generation of BMW 3 Series has proven to be another big seller of the car manufacturer based in Munich. The design saw improvements massive engineering and chassis development with the latest design of the rear axle Z-up.
A variety of body styles were launched, including the estate of tourism, four-door convertible and a coupe - the unbranded model with two doors. The real advance was for the M3 hardcore fresh, this new body.
BMW does not disappoint with a high-revving 3-liter six-cylinder producing 286bhp for the old 2.5-liter. In 1995, the evolution of M3 was produced with a 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine producing a massive 321bhp giving a 0-60mph in 5.4 seconds.
Although this and M3 may have missed the racing pedigree of the original, it has been a hit with buyers. More than 2.7 million third-generation 3 Series were sold, and this number, 70,000 were M3.
BMW 3 Series - 1998 to 2005
This generation 3 Series boast a full 12cm of legroom than the original model and has continued the massive success built by previous generations and as evidence more than three million fourth generation of BMW 3 Series have been sold.
The fourth generation of BMW 3 Series was to prove the power of diesel in the world with the 184bhp BMW 330d and delivered more than 40mpg. Also the 320D with its 2-liter 150 hp engine is become major best-selling vehicle in the range of BMW.
The fourth generation BMW M3 came with a 3.2-liter inline six-cylinder unit developing 343bhp giving a 0-60mph in 5 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph.
BMW 3 Series - 2005 to date
In 2005, the fifth generation of BMW Series 3 was launched with improved management and a new line of diesel and gasoline. The new 3-liter gives 272bhp while the twin-turbo diesel 3 liter puts out an impressive 286bhp.
The last generation M3 was produced with a V8 power plant built from aluminum.
The result is 420 hp and 0-62 mph in only 4.8 seconds, making it the fastest M3 and most powerful ever.

It was the successor of the BMW E21 in 1982 and was replaced by the BMW E36 in 1990. BMW continued to produce the cabriolet (convertible) E30 well into 1993.
