Aftermarket X5
The U.S. magazine Consumer Reports recently reported that the Acura MDX and Lexus RX350 were given more points compared to Cadillac, BMW, Lincoln, or SUV. The report came after the tests were carried out in the vans that will be part of the issue of Consumer Reports July.
Tests by Consumer Reports include 18 medium-sized SUVs, according to the publication. Of these 18 vehicles, the Lexus RX350 was third, while the Acura MDX is ranked fourth.
Ranking first is the Toyota Highlander Hybrid Lexus RX400h while ranked second. The Lexus RX400h and RX350 share a common platform. The only difference between them is the propulsion system from the RX400h hybrid uses an electric motor in order to provide additional power to your engine.
Of the eighteen SUVs medium size tested by Consumer Reports, five of them are luxury SUVs. Apart from the RX350 and the MDX, the three other luxury SUVs tested by Consumer Reports are the Cadillac SRX, BMW X5 and the Lincoln MKX. The SRX, X5 and MKX all received a total "Very Good", but failed to outperform the RX350 and the MDX. The SRX finish somewhere in the middle of the list, while the X5 and MKX were at the bottom of the list.
The RX350 and MDX both finished with 80 points each, but due to other characteristics differences the ability of handling and fuel economy, the Lexus SUV ranked higher than the Acura. The RX carries five passengers and is known for its luxurious interior. Its engine is the most fuel consumption of five luxury SUVs, even without the help of aftermarket parts, such as Exedy "> Exedy Exedy clutch or flywheel. The RX also has the fastest acceleration among luxury SUVs tested.
The new RX engine is a 3.5 liter V6 that is capable of producing 270 horsepower. Fuel efficiency of that engine resulted in a number of gas mileage of 19 mpg, because according to reports consumer after the RX undergone its own fuel economy tests.
On the other hand MDX can accommodate up to seven passengers - two more than the capacity of the RX. It also has a luxurious interior. Another feature that makes the MDX, near the top is better handling compared to the RX and luxury SUV. Its engine is also reported that more sporty than the Lexus. Its location complements the suspension of the propulsion system giving comfort MDX good horse.
The SRX, and capable of achieve a "Very Good" overall, is not being recommended by Consumer Reports, due to the questionable reliability of previous models of the SRX. The X5 and MKX, by other hand, are relatively new to the market, so Consumer Reports have limited data to their reliability. The publication only recommends vehicles that have good results in examinations and those who have proved reliable. The reliability is based on the annual car reliability survey company of Consumer Reports subscribers. The car is also recommended should receive good safety ratings.
