BMW is set to enter the World Superbike Championship in 2009.
While the BMW 325is parts maker has always been involved in "car" motorsport, and has also competed on "biking" events like the Rally Paris Dakar's recent entry into the Le Mans 24 hours was the first time in 5 years BMW had its own factory road racing teams.
During many years, BMW has taken the Boxer Cup championship for R1100S machines for PowerCup and K1200R. It has also provided major sponsorship for the MotoGP championship.
