BMW Case Study

Most car buyers are sold on the idea that hybrid cars are more environmentally friendly than large vehicles such as vans and SUVs. But a recent study by CNW Marketing Research Inc. showed that even a Hummer is more environmentally friendly than hybrid cars.

The study is very complex it took the company two years to complete. What the study focused on the amount of energy required by the vehicles in their lifetime. The company has studied the energy required to produce vehicles and during their lifetime and to disposal.

The study is complex because a single vehicle has thousands of parts and the study has collected data on how much energy was expended in the manufacture of each piece of automobile. And the result shows that the so-called green cars are really not as environmentally friendly as they appear.

CNW presented the results of their study in terms of "dollars U.S. per mile for life." This means that the energy required per vehicle in their lifetime converted into U.S. dollars.

According to the report, the average of 22 models of cars, they studied the economy is $ 0.85. For the six models of pickup trucks, which include Ford F-Series, the average is $ 2.58. The disparity between the two segments is not surprising since that large cars need large auto parts, therefore more energy is used to produce these components.

The study indicates the average for 14 models of small midsize SUV is $ 2.07, lower than the energy needs of pickup trucks. For the nine models of large SUVs, CNW reported that the average is $ 3.98. And then, surprisingly, for a dozen models of hybrid vehicles, the average is calculated as 3.65 $.

In the figures, we will realize that SUVs are even insulted for their gas capacity too greedy, they are greener than hybrids. Besides SUVs, luxury cars are also frowned at by environmentalists. But according to the study of several luxury cars are more green compared to hybrid cars.

Compared to the average of $ 3.65 for the ten hybrid cars, the Lincoln Town Car $ 2.66 is significantly lower. Other luxury cars greener than hybrids are the Acura RL at $ 2.80; Cadillac CTS at $ 3.19, and BMW Series 5 $ 3.19; Mercedes-Benz Class E, with $ 3.48; Toyota Land Cruiser 80 Series $ 3.49; Cadillac STS at $ 3.56, and the Cadillac DTS $ 3.65.

The reason noted the high energy requirement of hybrid cars is their complexity. These vehicles, apart from having an internal combustion engine are also equipped electric motors and battery packs. The batteries are in reality the question mark in the case of hybrids. The battery packs used by the current hybrids are those nickel-metal hydride. Nickel mines in Canada has already damaged the environment. Outside of mining, nickel is transported from one point on the globe to another until it reached Japan, where Prius units are assembled. In the only port, energy needs balloons because of the fuel used by container ships and locomotives used.

This means that even a large vehicle like the Isuzu Amigo with title = "Radiator Isuzu Amigo"> Isuzu Amigo radiator may be considered more environmentally friendly as hybrid vehicles. The results of the study will certainly open the eyes of the general public about the true nature of hybrid cars. While Hybrid cars are apparently not ideal, automakers are still involved in the development of other technologies that are more respectful Environmental tan hybrid technology.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The BMW 003 was an early axialflow turbojet engine produced by BMW AG in Germany during World War II. It and the Junkers Jumo 004 were the only German turbojet engines to reach production during World War II. Work had begun on the design of the BMW 003 before its contemporary, the Junkers Jumo 004 engine, but prolonged developmental problems meant that the BMW 003 entered production much later, and the aircraft projects that had been designed with it in mind were reengined with the Jumo powerplant instead. The most famous case of this was the Messerschmitt Me 262, in two of the Vseries prototypes and in the two experimental A1b aircraft, and the same was true of the Arado Ar 234 and Horten Ho 229. The only production aircraft to use the BMW 003 were the Heinkel He 162 and late, fourengined versions of the Arado Ar 234. One of the earliest studies of online community, preInternet, that considered the ethos, activities and goals of one of the earliest computer conferencing communities in existence. In it, we see the beginnings of Facebook and other online communities that are commonplace today. This study considers what is truly important in an online community, why people turn to them, and what they ultimately get from them. Above all, it points to the future we now take for granted, in which we all live two lives, one online and one in geographic community, and considers how we blend those in one integrated approach to living. This study is well suited for anyone trying to understand the phenomenon of online community today, the roots of Facebook and other other cyber gatherings, and where our current push into cyberspace as a new territory for human colonization might take us. The Acquisition of Phonology: A Case Study

The Acquisition of Phonology: A Case Study

$42.51

Originally published in 1973, this book is an account of how the child learns the sound system of his native language, or how he learns to speak. A theory of the acquisition of phonology is derived from a detailed and rigorous analysis of the developing speech of a young child observed over a period of two years. The details of this analysis are elaborated in depth in chapters two and three and the major results of the study are given in chapter four. The final chapter is devoted to the implications of language acquisition for linguistic theory in general and generative phonology in particular. In addition to the obvious relevance of this work to general linguists and psychologists working on language acquisition, it was of considerable importance to speech therapists and all those involved medically with the observation and treatment of infant speech, in that it provided a characterisation of normal development which could act as a yardstick by which to measure abnormal or pathological conditions. A Case Study of an Effective Elementary Principal.

A Case Study of an Effective Elementary Principal.

$115.71

The purpose of this research was to study an effective elementary school principal in order to determine what characteristics were present that resulted in effective school operations. The result was a case study of a school in the metropolis of Phoenix, Arizona. The principal studied was the founding principal of the school, and she has been the principal at this site for eight consecutive years. This study focused on characteristics used in daily interactions by the principal. Information was gathered through a combination of observations, interviews, focus groups, and conversations. Data were collated and common themes identified. The common themes were then explored and identified in greater detail to create a list of skills necessary for effective school leadership. A set of six recurring characteristics were identified by the researcher as those characteristics necessary to lead a school effectively. The identified characteristics included: relationships, culture and climate, leadership, curriculum, philosophy, and commitment. The information contained within this dissertation informs current leadership literature by providing additional research into effective school leadership characteristics. A Case Study of Social Vulnerability Mapping

A Case Study of Social Vulnerability Mapping

$98.77

This study uses GIS to determine if the aggregation of census block data are better than census block group data for analyzing social vulnerability. This was done by applying a social vulnerability method that used census block group data for a countywide analysis and converting it to use census blocks for a countywide analysis and a municipalwide analysis to determine which level of aggregation provided a more precise representation of social vulnerability. In addition to calculating the social vulnerability, the results were overlaid with an evacuation zone for the threat of a train derailment, determining which aggregation better depicted atrisk populations. The results of the study showed that the census blocks enable a more exact measurement of social vulnerability because they are better at capturing small pockets of highrisk areas. This study concludes that census block are more advantageous than census block groups because they are more sensitive and geographically exact in measuring social vulnerability, allow for a better interpretation of social vulnerability for smaller areas, and show spatial patterns of vulnerability at a finer spatial scale. Tributyltin: Case Study of an Environmental Contaminant

Tributyltin: Case Study of an Environmental Contaminant

$103.56

This authoritative volume reviews the environmental chemistry and toxicological effects of a marine pollutant of exceptional potency, tributyltin (TBT), and outlines the international response to control TBT. TBT compounds have been widely utilized in marine antifouling paint formulations to obtain increased fuel efficiencies and long lifetimes for maritime vessels and structures. However, its extreme toxicity has resulted in numerous adverse biological effects, and its persistence ensures that such problems are likely to continue. A wide variety of disciplines are brought together to illustrate the general principles, pathways and problems involved in identifying and quantifying an environmental toxin, elucidating deleterious biological consequences, and the legal framework that can invoke mitigation via regulation. This text not only has wide appeal for undergraduate courses in environmental science, chemistry and marine ecology, but also forms a valuable sourcebook for environmental planners and serves as a successful case study for undergraduate courses in environmental law, planning and science. The Secd Microprocessor: A Verification Case Study

The Secd Microprocessor: A Verification Case Study

$301.11

The SECD Microprocessor is a substantial case study in hardware specification and verification. The subject is a silicon implementation of Landins SECD machine, which is transformed into a layout, formally specified, and partially verified using the HOL proof assistant. It is important as a nontrivial worked example, clearly describing the organization and execution of the correctness of proof, and by making the sources available, will be helpful to those considering the use or learning about the application of formal methods. The architecture is designed to provide support for functional programming, with complex machine instruction to support recursive definitions and function calls. This considerably raises the complexity of the state transitions to be verified, and an abstract data type and operations are introduced to express the specification. The SECD Microprocessor illustrates what formal methods can achieve today, not only by some expert elite, but by anyone prepared to carefully consider the problems at hand. Author: Graham, Brian T.
