BMW Chip Tuning
Seafoam like Techron or any other cleaning valves or fuel additive should be used every 10-15k miles. During normal driving carbon can deposited on the back of the valves and piston tops. Using cleaner through the intake can help control these deposits, which may lead loss in fuel economy and performance. Below you can see two pistons removed from an engine with 32,000 miles. The piston on the left is a cylinder treated with Seafoam before referral.
Start by measuring 6 oz or 3 / 4 cup of Seafoam in a small pot. Now, with the car heated and operation to locate a blank line can be disconnected at idle, or one of the sources of the empty tree as cover throttle body or disable the wastegate. Put your finger on to confirm that it is a vacuum source. Let your finger over the hose until you are ready to begin.
Slowly submerge the vacuum line into the foam until the engine starts to stall. This step is a balancing act keep the engine idling while linking to induce the cleaning solution as quickly as possible. If you encounter a problem with the engine stalling, try dabbing the vacuum line in and out of the solution.
Once you have entered the 6 ounces of foam and sewing shut the engine off and wait about 10 minutes.
Once ten minutes have elapsed and you have reconnected the vacuum line to restart the engine. At this point, the smoke exhaust and you may experience a few shots back. This step is Seafoam burn. Wait until the smoke has slowed down and then take the car on a drive 3-4 mile. During acceleration expect some light to the thick smoke that dissipate after only a mile. This valve cleaning should be repeated every 2-3 oil changes.
