BMW Classic Motorcycles
The hood trim tag was used on Chevrolet cars in the classic car era to record descriptions and options installed. Trim the tag cover is a thin aluminum plate which was riveted to the firewall or "hood" classic GM cars.
Trim Hood the tag is often mistaken for the Holy Grail of the identification of classic cars. Sorry to say, he will not reveal all the details on your classic car.

Line 2 in the hood trim tag has the date code production. This is important when codes of regular production option (RPO's) may have changed at some time during the model year and you need to know which option is your car.
Line 3 is the model year, body type, assembly plant and the chassis number. The number style body said it was a V8 model 2 door sports coupe. AT means that the car was assembled in Atlanta. The chassis number does not mean anything if it was something special as the first 64 Impala product. The chassis number is also in the VIN.
Line 4 is the code pad that talks about the procedure, then the code of the painting. In this case, we want to know what the interior was done in red cloth with a split front bench seat. The painting was 2 colors, Desert Fawn on top and red Sunfire on the lower half. Hmm, that sounds like a combination Nice colors!
Line 5 is the code accessory. This line consists of 1-5 groups of codes. This hood trim tag is only the first 2 groups. If the tag does not cover gasket codes in the other groups, you should assume that these options have never been installed. The E in a Group tells us that the factory tinted glass all around. The number 2 indicates the group 2, K is the air, and S is manual rear antenna.
How can we use this information Hooded Trim tag? If we needed to replace some glass, we would look for tinted windows, or if the antenna back we missed we would have had to replace it.
This reveals nothing fantastic in the car, except it would be useful info if the car missing documents indicated. The codes would be optional in Group 4 of line 5 if the car was a SS. As there is none, we know we have a 2 tone red and beige 2-door V8 Sport Coupe with factory air. In this case, this info helps a lot!
You should use the information found on the tag trim cover more guides Suffix Code, and with Factory Part number guides and casting to obtain a complete picture. Together with the factory shop manual and manual assembly, destroying your classic car and reassembly, it is almost like painting by numbers.

Mainly before WW2, BMW motorcycles were winning e.g. at the Isle of Man TT. Apart from the factory efforts, many privateer teams enter BMW road cars in Touring car racing.
