In this year's survey of how consumers are very happy with their cars and trucks, Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Corp. each took two higher price segment.

In JD Power and Associates 2007 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout Study, which was published Thursday in the Ford Edge stands out as the most attractive new vehicles on the market. Meanwhile, the Ford Mustang, Cadillac Escalade EXT and GMC Sierra led their classes in a study using a total of 19 categories all-in-all.

For GMC manufacturer of barrier Bed, General Motors, performance represents a huge improvement since the automaker had no winners in each category year last. Ford had two winners in 2006 - Fusion and the Mustang. But this year, the merger has not taken the top three in the category of cars medium.

The big winners at this year's survey were Honda, and German makes Porsche, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Among them, Honda captured segment more awards than any other manufacturer.

In all, Detroit's Big Three did not do well in this poll year.

More than 50 percent of Detroit-owned brands performing below the average, including all of Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep range of Auburn Hills, just like last year.

Now in its 12th year, the so-called APEAL study gauges owner delight with design, content, layout and performance of their new vehicles. So, practically speaking, the survey measures things that car manufacturers have right with their new cars and trucks. This is in contrast with other surveys tend to measure things have gone wrong, such as problems quality.

Eight brands owned by carmakers in Detroit-area above the average in the APEAL survey. These brands include Jaguar Ford, Land Rover, Lincoln, Volvo and Mazda brands, as well as GM's Cadillac, Saab and Hummer. However, 10 marks owned by American companies were below average. Apart from Chrysler, the others were GM GMC, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick and Saturn, and Ford Motor, Ford and Mercury brands.
