One of the mistakes car buyers the most recurrent is assuming that once they have settled on a price for their cars with staff sales, they think they have completed the purchase of car and this process is not the case. Car buyers who now relax and let your guard down often ... lose their shirts! Because for 99% of car buyers once you have installed on your car and the price you must enter the F & I office or the F & I process. The reason for all car buyers should be careful because once you're in the F & I office you can quickly and painless loose thousands of dollars.

For those of you unfamiliar with the term, F & I is an acronym for the financing and insurance. In car dealers the F & I department is one of many under-the-radar profit centers, and has been for decades. Since today most people do not use a dealer for the auto insurance of this department is focused on generating revenue off of you in one two ways:

• Make money out of you by your rate of bumping Finance - When you apply for credit at a dealership automobile, they will receive a funding rate by their banks for you, then they will try to add "points" of extra money for themselves. Say you're approved by the bank for a dealer for a loan of $ 30,000 from new cars to 5.9% financing. The F & I Department try to add items to you that you qualify for a loan with an interest rate of 7.9% or 9.9%, whatever their number, Legally they can bump your rate and think you'll fall for it! The car dealer likes to make money, sometimes big money just to be the intermediary in the auto loan, do not let them. The more sophisticated know what they can get to finance before ever entering the F & I department. In this way, the F & I department can only improve their level of funding and not making money with it (I touch it more in a moment).
• Sell you an extended warranty or wrap around warranty - Extended warranties can be a very good idea if you are planning to maintain your new vehicle for a number of years and a wrapper around the security that is designed to protect against any costs not covered by manufacturer's warranty is often useful. The problem with buying one of these guarantees from a Dealer F & I department is cost. Unfortunately, I found that if you're willing to do as little as five minutes of research Internet for one of these types of guarantees, you will find coverage as good or better than the dealer at least hundreds if not thousands of dollars!
• Ancillary Products - The list of possible products you may be offered by an F & I department are endless. Some of the classics are the protection spray landing gear, wine number etching and paint sealant. Whatever the product, I found that if it is offered in F & I office is either totally useless and superfluous, as wine etching and paint sealant or a complete rip off, something so dense that the company offering the product useless and selling dealer should serve both sentences (a product like undercarriage spray).

So what should you do in the F & I office? Simple, this is usually that you sign all necessary documents to complete the process of car purchase. In addition, as I mentioned earlier, you can potentially get more funding from a dealer you'll get from a bank outside. It is because car manufacturers will sometimes offer under-ventilated funding is extremely low to encourage people to buy their cars. Examples are financing at 0%, 1.9% or 2.9%, these rates are lower prime rate and no bank would have an incentive to raise rates as the builder (the need to sell the car to create the loan).
