BMW Hybrid Concepts
The days of the diesel car seems long gone, but now they are back. Why? The new diesel cars mileage is huge, which actually a wary public gas pumps very interested in the new concept car diesel.
Hate paying high prices at the pump? Well, you had a little relief, as demand has collapsed with the recession. When demand drops, so do prices. Unfortunately, low prices will be a thing of the past when the economy moving again. In fact, you've probably noticed a gradual increase in prices as we move to summer.
Over there are a multitude of new "clean diesel" cars hit the market you might want to take a glance. Miles per gallon figures are staggering. How about the Volkswagen Golf TDI, which gets 42 mpg in the city and 49 on highways? What about the 35 mpg BMW 335D? These are just some of the diesel vehicles coming to market as non-hybrid method to cope with high costs fuel. To increase performance, each is fuel injected and very attentive.
If diesel is so great, how come we have not seen these cars before? The problem has been found in emissions. Diesel engines burn dirty. If you drove behind an old Mercedes, you've probably noticed the cloud of exhaust! Nevertheless, new cars have better emissions systems to address this issue. This is known as "clean diesel" technology and this is how it works.
The magic is all in the converter catalytic. Well, mostly. The converter is different from a petrol version because diesel does not burn as much. The remnants of the explosion combustion filled with particles, unburned diesel particulate and others. Diesel oxide catalytic converter cleans them like a normal converter. The device, however, also has a particulate filter. The filter catches unburned particles. Superheated gases are then passed through the filter and the particulates are incinerated. Between these two approaches, most pollutants have taken the car. Some car companies go further.
An additional system is sometimes used with diesel engines is a system of ammonia. A small reservoir stores liquid ammonia. It is then sprayed as a mist in system. The obligations of the sprayer with ammonia nitrogen and greenhouse gas divided into non-toxic, odorless and biodegradable. They are then burned many particles as are the exhaust and is made even cleaner.
Diesel cars have come a very long way. The diesels you see in showrooms are not your grandparents diesel. The parameters have an excellent performance and no clouds of smoke flowers. With annual mileage arrive regularly in years 30 and 40, they are certainly worth taking a look.
