I recently on a forum where several "time money" service professionals and business owners were discuss their "rates". I immediately noticed that these intelligent and informed business owners have been falling in some traps price myth.
The three biggest mistakes I see money being made by "Time for Money" small business owners:
1. Coupling / undercutting.
Many small business owners look around what others are doing and they do the same thing - or worse, they lower their rates to think it makes them more attractive to potential customers. It does not, it makes you look like a market and sets up to be treated as it deals with a case.
I challenge you to separate yourself from others in your industry. You want to be exclusive. You want to be known as the Mercedes or the BMW - not like the Daewoo. Offer our customers a unique experience and they will pay the price.
2. Focusing on price.
When speaking with potential clients, you do not want to concentrate on your rhythm and your "price" you want to focus on results that the potential customer seen as a result of a partnership with you.
Discuss the type of results that customers are generally, they feel * * this place happy and want to stay, then give the price.
For example, a virtual assistant can then share that its customers have more time to do things they do best rather than managing all the administrative details of running a successful business and, accordingly, they will generate more revenue.
A massage therapist can discuss the positive results being physical, mental and emotional that occur with recurrent massage weekly rather than reserved only "when you * need * a".
3. Updating.
When someone Next you asked for a discount, I want to pause for a moment, then said "I understand that my services would you eliminate?
Seriously. You're a small business owner, not Wal-Mart. If a potential customer begins by asking you a discount, you think he will appreciate the value of everything you bring to the relationship or does it matter to bargain and Day 1?
In order to approach your prices as the natural conclusion of a conversation rather than allowing it to become the conversation, you must come from a place of abundance. Not all potential customers will be match for you and that is correct. You want to attract only those customers who recognize the results that you provide that are willing and able to pay for these results.
