- Clean the pan with a cloth without lint and replace the rubber gasket, ensuring a proper fit all the way around. Reinstall the PAN, tighten the bolts gradually and uniformly to 10 Nm. (The manual says 8Nm, a little more is fine. But please do not go overboard: These plans may be distorted and are not cheap.)
- Replace the two drain plugs, using stamps new copper crush. Factory specifications. is 14Nm, or 10lbs/ft. Tight with a unit of 3 / 8 works well. If you removed the bar, replace it, taking care not to damage the threads of the screws.
- (Optional) Crack open lines of the trans cooler in the radiator (17mm wrench) and the escape of small amount of fluid from this area. Replace the line if their condition is questionable, are inexpensive. Retighten all connections.
- Using a mesh filter fine, add four gallons of fresh Dexron Mercon transmission fluid (ATF) through the dipstick tube. If you can afford, using synthetic fluids: helps maintain the temperature by reducing internal friction, and heat is the enemy of automatic transmissions.
- Start the engine and slowly add three quarts.
- Back the car off the ramps, run through all gears, pausing for a couple of seconds between each team, then check the fluid level. I want no more than the minimum mark at this point. Transmission fluid expands largely hot, the reference marks on the dipstick is calibrated so that the hot liquid. So it's good to be a half inch or so below that mark, while the liquid is cold.
- Drive the car for about 20 minutes (yes, at least that much) to heat the liquid thoroughly. Transmission fluid takes longer to heat up the oil or engine coolant and requires the friction of real driving to reach temperature. Check the liquid back into the ground. Be sure not to leave any lint on the dipstick before replacing the tube. Any level between the marks is very well, but in any case we want to exceed the maximum level. If you need to add fluid, do so in very small increments and check again.
If synthetic liquid you use, you may notice that the changes have become noticeably firmer. To compensate, if necessary, by adjusting valve modulator in the driver's side of the transmission. Take the small key to the left until the quality of the changes is to your liking. Note that slide too bad for internal clutches.
