2 choices: or R1200R BMW F800ST?
Experienced riders will spend a BMW1150RT I find too bulky and heavy for a bicycle smaller, but versatile, commuting (25-30km) & Touring usually short in question, say 200-400km/day very occasionally will Pelion. Ideas? and yes, I like Beemers to other brands. Thx!
They are both great bikes. They are somewhat different in purpose. The F800 is smaller / lighter bike almost level "entry" as his Little Brother cylinder. I sat on one and does not care about the position, the arm forward, feet back, almost like a sport bike-Crouch. I do not think it would be equally comfortable for a passenger on long journeys. But it is lighter, which is nice, and quite enough power. It has belt drive, which is a good compromise between maintaining high chain and the weight of a tree. The 1200 is a more serious cycling, and probably better to travel really serious (but 200-400 km / day, not much better). It is heavier but more powerful. The seating position is more upright, probably more comfortable on a long journey. I think the engine would be smoother (but I never mounted the 800 so I could not say for sure). Best quality for runners passenger, both in comfort and being able to bear the extra weight. Probably more stable over a long distance at high speed. If you sit just two bikes, at their center, as you can see the differences in intention design. The 800 is lighter and simpler, the 1200 is more substantial and less compromising. They are both very good at what they are.
