Like many Canadians, I am very passionate hockey fan and since I specialize in European destinations, I will share my memories of what is probably my favorite city to tour Hockey. If you have not been to Prague, there is no doubt that this European capital should be top of your list. I have several teams in Prague, by far, it was unanimous for the quality of hockey, attractions, food, breweries and the list continues.
Certainly, the city has much to offer, but the surroundings are also attractive with castles, underground lakes, the scenery breathtaking and a wide range of attractions. But the more the subject of this article we will focus on Prague.
Throughout my career in the sports industry dating Travel in the early 1990s I had the chance to visit more than 20 European countries and took to the ice for friendly games of hockey over a dozen of them. I love the Alps, the beauty of the French Riviera, the Dutch windmills, castles in Austria, but somehow always comes Prague on top when I remember my tour of hockey. I love music and like most of us I was not so for classical music, but until I enter in the Rudolfinum and listen to the Prague Symphony Orchestra.
It was like entering a magical world, the discovery sounds, I did not even know existed. And if you happen to be a history buff, you'll feel like a child in a candy store. Landmarks distributed throughout the city are a constant reminder of the fascinating history. As some of our licensees to visit is, you can feast your eyes until they can see more, there's just so much ". Monuments, mainly Gothic and Baroque, which rise into the sky Czech. I have always done reference to the atmosphere of Prague as "exciting".
How great is Prague? I must tell you a tour of hockey in Prague and I did not even mention the word hockey.
There are literally hundreds of destinations in Europe and hockey in Prague is definitely a must for Hockey fans of all ages. Hockey players on tour, so the teams travel first, but focusing on Prague as a destination Hockey, you open a box of possibilities. In the Czech Republic hockey leads to discoveries. Whether you like it or not beer (great majority of players do, it's part of Canadian culture) is not relevant, and our way of Plzen (Pilsner in English), we get to visit one of the oldest breweries in Europe and witness the realization of what was for centuries a tradition in the Czech Republic; brewing of beer. As organizers, we ensure that the element of culture during your tour of hockey is perfectly integrated. By this we insist on the dining experience because enjoying the local food is all part of learning about a country. You do not want go to Italy and not have pizza or lasagna now do you?
Not only will you play your skills against teams of Czech hockey (I recommend 4 or games on a 10 to 12 days tour), but you will discover lots between two games. If beer is not your thing (which would be difficult to believe), perhaps white wine will do, or Bohemian crystal you have to visit a factory and witness how they produce beautiful crystal from the Czech Republic is known for.
Prague and the Czech Republic has many treasures, landmarks, good food and accommodation and yet the prices remain affordable. Cities like Pardubice, Trebon, Pisek, Kralovy Vary will be happy to welcome you and wish the Czechs show your team they can play the game too, so prepare yourself for a friendly competition.
It is a matter of personal preference when it comes to hockey tours, and we made quite a number of Scandinavia at the bottom of Spain, and Prague has my vote for all the reasons I mentioned earlier. Soccer and handball are also big in the Czech Republic, whatever your game is, Prague is a hot spot for teams looking the perfect mix of sport, food and culture.
Prague is a hub of hockey. In the Czech Republic, you can arrive in Germany Poland, Austria and Slovakia in a matter of hours by bus and more importantly, on the way to your next destination country on your tour Hockey chances are you have more discoveries. A favorite, just to name one, is the road to Germany. On your way to Munich, you will play hockey in Regensburg and Nuremberg (both are fabulous places) before making your way to the capital of sauerkraut, the BMW plant and the largest brewer in world, the Hofbrauhaus.
Next time, we cover all destinations in the country is rich some hidden treasures await your team ...
