BMW Sauber to strengthen grip on third spot
In the current season of Formula One, Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team is dominating after five races with two drivers tied for the lead in the championship driver's head while the constructors' championship. The closest team that the dominance of rivals McLaren this season with Ferrari driver Felipe Massa chalking two wins already. Both teams are without doubt the best two teams This season so far.
Behind the two giants of racing, a bunch of teams seeking supremacy Formula One is led by BMW Sauber. The team currently lies third in the constructors' championship. Team boss Mario Theissen is looking to increase their advance teams trying to take place BMW Sauber. Williams, Renault and Toyota are the foremost challenger to locate BMW Sauber.
After Monaco Grand Prix, BMW managed to give them more space to breathe through the construction of 14 points ahead of fourth Renault pace. During that race, Renault, Giancarlo Fisichella was fourth, but BMW Sauber Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld finished fifth and sixth respectively, giving more points to the team.
As the next race of the season approach, Theissen said clearly that they will improve their performance prior at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada. After the Canadian Grand Prix, the team will struggle against the United States Grand Prix.
"The year last, we crossed the Atlantic in fifth place in the standings. In 2007 we arrived in Canada as the third best team, " explained Theissen. "In 2006, we have taken two points outside the pair of races in North America. This is something that we naturally seek to improve, and we aim to collect as many points as possible on the backs of our good result at Monaco, to further strengthen our position in the championship. "
The drivers of the team, Heidfeld and Kubica are both showing their prowess in driving the season progresses. In the first race of the season, the Australian Grand Prix, Heidfeld finished fourth while Kubica was forced to withdraw. The second race, the Malaysian Grand Prix, Heidfeld once again took the fourth place while Kubica was 18th. At the Bahrain Grand Prix, the third race of the season Heidfeld continued his series of fourth place finishes while Kubica got his first point of the season by placing sixth.
Grand Prix of Spain Heidfeld retired because of problems gearbox of his car, even if it does not consist of title = "Original BMW Parts"> classics OEM BMW, but components manufactured specifically for the application running at high speed. But while Heidfeld has not finished, Kubica was fourth up again for BMW Sauber. And in the final race leading to the two races in North America, the Monaco Grand Prix, the duo finished points awarded each of them.
Look forward to the Canadian Grand Prix, BMW Sauber technical director Willy Rampf is convinced they can build their lead over Renault. "We were very competitive in Canada last year, and I am very confident that we will be able to leave with good results again this year, "said Rampf.
