BMW Updates
It is no secret that Toyota has met with massive media attention in recent weeks with the publication of a temporary suspension a line of vehicles selected for a collage of "accelerator" reminder. The announcement, on January 21 2010, a mission launched by Toyota Motor Corporation to cease manufacturing and to suspend sales pending further investigation and remedy the problem. With daily updates and further releases flying through the air, Toyota Motor Corp. made an extraordinary effort to provide support, updates and information for consumers on this pedal fault.
"Helping to ensure the safety of our customers and restore confidence in Toyota are very important for our company, "said Group Vice President and The Toyota Division General Manager Bob Carter." This Action is needed until a cure is completed. We make every effort to remedy this situation for our customers as quickly as possible. "
With over 1234 Toyota dealers affected by this recall, they are likely to lose $ 1.75 to $ 2 million by months of revenue from new and used versions of models that are not allowed to be sold. It would seem that the seriousness of this situation could be devastating. However, dealers, executive leaders of the automotive industry and consumers show great confidence in the Toyota brand. As David states Sargent, Vice President Global Automotive Division at JD Power and Associates.
"Historically, vehicle recalls have minimal effect [as far as satisfaction Customer ratings go] as only a small percentage of owners actually experience the problem, "said Sargent." For the majority owners, the most significant impact will be an inconvenience to take their vehicle to the dealer to be fixed. The heavy workload recall is also likely to affect other owners to seek an appointment of dealer service. The effect will be largely depends on how Toyota dealers and manage this process. It may also be an indirect effect of lingering concerns from some consumers about the overall reliability of their vehicles and the potential effect on resale value. Overall, the impact is likely to be shallower than one might expect. "
Although the focus seems to Toyota for the moment, I ask myself "Recall" as a whole. On a larger scale, this raises the question: "What other product defects unknown hiding there" Who Moreover, "When prove defective? What danger are we in?
It is a given that with our ever-expanding growth multiplied impenetrable by the application, we produce products at prices so great that the product recalls defects are widely anticipated. The control that we maintain to manufacture products to meet consumer demand comes with a guarantee exceptional and overwhelming that we will continue to be at risk.
As this discussion directs our attention to vehicle recalls, we note that almost every manufacturer has introduced a recall in 2009 from BMW to Volkswagen. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) lists recalls of vehicles by 1) the order of the EPA, 2) the voluntary recall by the manufacturer, 3) Voluntary Service campaign by the manufacturer or 4) A manufacturer of voluntary action with EPA Influence. Attention Toyota is well underway, shows they are clearly not alone.
Beyond the auto industry has been subject to numerous product recalls across the board in the last year. We note that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has found several flaws, since the month of January 2009, from suffocation, fire and risks falling beyond death unthinkable danger. Playsets, ice cleats, aromatherapy kits, jewelry, gloves, electric, canopy beds children, lip gloss key rings, manicure kits for children, television wall mounts, recliners glider, furnaces, glasses Sun, stationary bikes, rattles for infants, dishwasher, sweat-shirts, mobile sites and even play pajamas were on their list of reminders to name a few.
After a course in economics we are educated enough to know the supply and demand and how system works. But where is the element of protection come into play? When it becomes necessary to introduce a law declaring that the limit on production will be necessary to prevent such defects occur in the first place? It is always the best intentions of the maker of such products with efficiency, safety and quality so I dare not say they do not care. In fact, they can not produce these products without extensive research and submit to extensive testing. That being the case, I hope it becomes a greater motivation for the "tips that are" to reduce these risks even level of concentration that they show in the design and manufacture products for a start.
Applause to Toyota for acknowledging this situation as expediently and intently as they have. Toyota proves to be a major backer of their products and services showing their true dedication to the consumers wellbeing and satisfaction.
