You've seen ads in magazines, on TV commercials and on the road. Honda is one of the world's best known and respected of automotive brands. The company behind the car is Honda Motor Company, Ltd., a multinational company based in Nichome Minami-Aoyama, Minato, Tokyo Japan. Honda designs, develops, manufactures and sells popular vehicles like the Accord, Civic, CRV and many others. Honda cars are driven in many different regions of the world.
Everything is not the case in Japan
Many people incorrectly assume that Japanese cars are manufactured in Japan. The truth is that the world is a very different place today than it was in the late '40 'S when Honda started. Globalization has made it possible for multinational corporations to distribute their production facilities through the world for maximum efficiency. For example, even if its global corporate headquarters are in Japan, American Honda Motor Co. is based in Torrance, California. Honda has also created joint ventures around the world to facilitate operations in places like China and India.
In terms of sectors cars actually made, the answer is - it depends. Honda has assembly plants in several components distributed around the world, each producing any where from only one to five different styles of cars. Depending on where in the world you live and what type of vehicle you wonder about the actual geographic origin may vary. Below is a list of their manufacturing and assembly with details on what type of vehicles are manufactured there. It is prudent to assume that if you live closer to China than the USA, assembly plant closest (or in) China, which manufactures everything model is one where the car came.
Honda Manufacturing and Production Services
Japan
From 2009, there were only two major manufacturing plants located in Japan.
The Honda Hamamatsu Factory in Hamamatsu, Japan, manufactures cars, motorcycles and engines the full range of carmakers.
Over there is another production facility located in Japan at Suzuka, Mie, Japan. Currently, this facility has only one model - the Honda Fit.
China
Dongfeng Honda Automobile Company, based in Wuhan, China, opened in 2003. The assembly plant currently produces the Honda CRV, but has plans to produce Honda Civic in the near future.
Indonesia
Honda Indonesia is the name of the plant in Karawang, Indonesia. Currently, the plant produces the Honda Fit.
Thailand
In Thailand, Honda manufactures the Honda Fit in their plant in Ayutthaya, Thailand.
Turkey
Honda has a car plant in Turkey, where he manufactured different styles since 1992.
New Zealand
Honda builds cars in New Zealand from 1965 to 1998. The models were produced in these facilities include the Honda City, Civic and Accord.
Belgium
The production plant in Belgium is only motorcycles.
England
In the UK, Honda builds the Civic and the CRV in Swindon, England since 1992.
Brazil
Honda Motorcycle Amazonas is a Brazilian production facility that manufactures only motorcycles. The factory is located in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil and made motorcycles since 1976.
Honda Automobile Brazil, a facility located in Indaiatuba, Sao Paolo, Brazil produces the Civic and Fit.
United States
The Marysville Auto Plant in Marysville, Ohio makes Accords, Acuras and motorcycles.
Middle Liberty Auto Plant, East Liberty, Ohio, manufacturer of the Civic the CRV and Honda Element.
Honda Manufacturing of Alabama is located in Lincoln, Alabama. The plant, which opened in 2001, manufactures vehicles such as Honda Odyssey, Honda Pilot and Honda J Engine.
Formula Honda Toronto offers both new and used cars Toronto and in the GTA - with a huge variety of cars, trucks, SUV's and vans.
