Dakota Leather BMW
If you were to examine the new Mitsubishi Raider, your eyes would see the logo of the Triad single centered in the middle of his beefy grille research. However, as you let your eyes run the full length of the body of the truck and take a look at its key style, you should see something different, and yet very familiar. Indeed, with some fascia, body, and changes in cabin, the Raider is without doubt a Dodge Dakota. Yes, the tables have been Reverse MitsubishiÂ's and pick up is now a Dodge instead of vice versa. Beyond the obvious similarities there are some differences between models that gives the Raider a uniqueness of its own.
Back in the 1970s and 1980s when Chrysler needed small cars and trucks to supplement its limited range in place, the company has operated its business relationship with Mitsubishi to provide what she needed. Included in the mix was a small van, most recently the D50. When Chrysler developed the medium Dakota during the late 1980s, the need for Mitsubishi truck decreased and by the early 1990s was not the D50.
Mitsubishi For its part, has long been a builder small trucks, but as the automaker began selling vehicles in North America, the line has increased substantially in place. The request for a small Mitsubishi pick up truck down so that the  "Mighty Maxa" was deleted from its line up. Finally, the manufacturer decided to partner with DaimlerChrysler to sell rebadged Dakotas as Raiders.
The relationship is smarter than the Raider fills a void for Mitsubishi DaimlerChrysler, while allowing to retain a capacity to build large trucks. Strange as the relationship may seem, Isuzu and General Motors are the same something that both Isuzu vehicles sold in the U.S. are rebadged GMC trucks.
So what sets the Raider outside the pact, especially Dodge his cousin? Price for one. Starting at about $ 19,000, the truck is priced as low as some of the smaller trucks on the market, including the popular Toyota Tacoma. Apparently, Mitsubishi wanted a model of entry-level to meet expected demand. Yes, bare bones versions of the Tacoma can be done for much less, but this is what you get, the bare bones. There are no four-cylinder Raider sold, you get either a 210-hp V6 or a beefy V8 from 230 hp to power your Raider. The V8 is especially attractive for these two women who, like its towing capacity is a respectable 6500 lbs. Tranny choices include 4 or 5 speed automatic Manny or 6 speed tranny.
The Raider is available as either a 4x2 or 4x4 and two or four door configurations of the cabin. Seating capacity can be as high as six passengers although you wouldnÂ't be as comfortable in a riding / Raider Dakota with six people as you would a full-size Ram.
What many Raider fans will love is the care booster Mitsubishi has given the interior. Unlike the Dakota, the Raider comes with features base closer to a sedan than a van. Sirius satellite radio, Alpine speakers, the heated front bucket seats with leather surfaces, and all power are some of the features that make the Raider much more than a truck.
Ten years after the last "Mighty Maxa" trucks were sold by Mitsubishi, a new truck came into the fold through a connection important with DaimlerChrysler. Perhaps the success of this relationship will spawn additional sharing model. Could we see a rebadged Dodge Ram soon sold as a Mitsubishi? In these days of extended sharing model, everything is possible.
