E46 Performance
BMW X3 is a compact crossover SUV, which is marketed by the infamous German automaker. It is made on the basis of the 3-Series automobile platform E46 and today is the first generation of the BMW X3 models. The company designed the new X3 to the merger with Magna Steyr in Austria, which produces all BMW's X3S under a special contract. Following the X5, X3 is the second vehicle, which was sold by BMW as a Sports Activity Vehicle.
BMW has introduced the forerunner of the X3 model as a concept vehicle, which was shown in 2003 at the Detroit Auto Show. They presented a preview of the platform based VAS Series 3 without evidence of a roof and windows.
Since the company uses part of the E39 model 5 series in the making of the X5, the engineers have also parts 3 series used in the manufacture of the BMW X3, in particular the suspension in the rear of the E46 330xi. When the X3 was released in the second half of 2003, BMW has announced that equip more than 4 wheel drive system, in order to next-generation X3 and X5 models.
Now it is time that BMW is seriously looking to expand its SUV / SAV line-up. They are launching the 2010 X3, with the all new BMW X1, which will be much more compact compared with the X3, but incredibly powerful.
The latest models display X1 and X3 xDrive system more involved with the driver shortly after any type of instability is observed in the conduct, and takes care of the situation, avoiding fatal accidents.
