The Alfa Romeo Spider first was introduced in 1966 at the Geneva Motor Show, where she was hailed as an instant classic by the Auto-public. "Other changes in appearance occurred, also on the type 4 spiders, but the entire production of the Alfa Romeo Spider came to a sad end in 1993. However, a "Spider Limited Edition Commemorative Edition" has been made for the North American market in May 1993 and was identified as a 1994 model.
