If you think car batteries are the batteries like a toy car is almost the same, except the common full-sized car does not use the vehicle's battery to create movement. This is covered by the internal combustion engine. At least until hybrid cars came on the scene.
The battery is an electrical device unbelievable. This indefinable element without moving parts is an essential element of car. Read later to see how you can keep it running in perfect condition with little fuss.
How it works?
The battery the vehicle battery is a device that generates electrical energy from a chemical reaction. These batteries are commonly called SLI (Starter-Lighting-Ignition) batteries because they are mainly used for those purposes.
Batteries generate electrical energy from a chemical process. These batteries are usually use a method to lead acid. Inside the battery are six galvanic cells of lead and lead oxide. Each of these cells produce 2.1 volts each for a total of 12.6 volts. These cells are immersed in a solution electrolyte composed of sulfuric acid at 35% and 65% of pure water.
When cells interact with the electrolyte solution, electrons are out to move between the plates, which creates electricity. This has the additional effect of changing the composition of cells, creating lead sulfate.
This process is reversed when the battery is recharged by the alternator. This time driving back to his sulphate of lead and lead oxide.
Defective batteries can severely degrade performance and shorten the life of your car.
How to check your batteries
To check the battery, follow these steps:
Remove plugs the battery (if available). Some batteries Lead-acid may be sealed so skip this step. Older lead-acid batteries are reusable.
Look inside the battery. Check the condition of the plates and in particular the water level.
Water recharge. If the water does not reach the top of the plates, charging the battery with distilled water. Do not fill past the battery cells.
Clean the terminals and storage depots. To avoid electrocution, REMOVE the offshore terminals battery before wiping off the sulfur. Make sure you do not disclose the material on your skin. With caution. Use a rag and a toothbrush used.
Dry your battery. Dry the battery with a lint-free RAG.
Coat the terminals with petroleum jelly to prevent corrosion.
Check cables for wear or damage. Replace or Seal of electrical equipment band if the damage is minor.
Make the case for cracks. Replace if cracks are serious regardless of their electrical performance.
If you are experiencing low to extinguish the light, use a battery tester. An indication of low may show a low acidity battery.
How do I get rid of the battery?
DO NOT throw in rubbish bins. Batteries are hazardous to the environment, its acid sulfur and lead are toxic to plants, humans and animals alike. Be sure to bring them to the nearest center of the battery when you buy a new. The batteries are recyclable, so you can use to get a discount at the dealership.
